I pressed the publish button for the first time on June 4, 2011.

This blog was initially inspired by my brother, who was finishing up a culinary program at the time I started this blog (he has since graduated). Cooking is one of the few interests we share. At the time, I suggested my brother might want to start a cooking blog to help kick-start his career (however, he’d rather spend his time experimenting with cooking). This eventually led me to the realization that I wanted to maintain a food blog.

This is a blog mostly about cooking on a student’s modest food budget. However, from time to time, I will write about other food related topics. And, sometimes I might switch things up and write about whatever is on my mind.

I hope to have a few posts that feature my very talented younger brother (still trying to convince him to let me document a few of his recipes).

  1. Hi Cook’s Sister! RE the ribs (http://reddeerfoodie.blogspot.com/2011/09/most-amazing-ribs-ever.html) what I did with them today was cook them all day in the oven, then spread bbq sauce and turned the oven to “broil: just for about 5 minutes. Turned out just as good as when we did them on the BBQ!

  2. Amber! Great blog! And thanks for following mine:)

  3. Your blog sounds great!

  4. I see you are a food blogger of Canada member. I am too, but haven’t gotten into it much. Are there benefits you enjoy?

    • Hi Vinny! I’ve participated in a few contests and really enjoyed a number of the articles available. I’d like to get more involved somehow!

  5. Hi Amber,
I’ve nominated you for a Liebster Award. Thanks for the great recipes and reflections!

    • Wow, thanks Jon, I’m honoured that you enjoy my blog enough to nominate it for an award!

  6. I’ve just nominated you for a Liebster award. Please don’t feel pressured to respond. I do so to share what I admire with other people around me and hope that they also gain something from your little space on the web. Thank you for the inspiration that you provide me to stretch and challenge my blogging skills – Kumu

    • Wow, thank you so much! Thank you so much for thinking of me. I will respond to your questions in next week’s post. However, because I was nominated earlier this month as well, I will not be tagging 11 blogs.
